PLASSON UK recently equipped Edenwood House, a new mixed-use development in Cricklewood, London, with the innovative MCP System, enabling streamlined water distribution with meter connection. Driven by main contractor JJ Rhatigan and branded Eden NW2, this project is redefining the area with modern residences and vibrant amenities.
Eden NW2 comprises 95 one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments spread across five floors and arranged around a central courtyard. At ground level, a 22,500 sq ft supermarket anchors the development. Built on the former site of the Galtymore Irish Dance Hall, a once-famous local social hub, Eden NW2 signals the beginning of Cricklewood’s regeneration.
G&H, a quality-driven contractor recognised for their collaborative approach and commitment to innovation, was appointed to deliver the mechanical, electrical and public health (MEP) services for Edenwood House.
Tasked with feeding the mains water supply to all 95 apartments via nine compact riser cupboards – each approximately 0.75 square meters – G&H needed a scalable solution that accommodated tight spatial constraints and enabled swift installation.
True to their reputation as a forward-thinking contractor, G&H set out to explore modern methods of construction (MMC). After recommendations from industry peers, they took the route of bespoke pre-fabrication and selected the PLASSON MCP System.
The PLASSON MCP System is a centralised hub made up of two key components: a robust, custom-built manifold that splits the incoming water mains into several outlets, and a series of MCPs (meter connection points), which incorporate a mains isolation valve, meter carrier, double check valve, and drain port into a single monobloc unit.
For the project, sixteen manifolds, ranging from 3-port to 9-port, were supplied and configured with staggered 90mm centres to maintain a compact profile. Each of the 95 outlets were fitted with a threaded MCP allowing direct connection to the MLP pipework.
Installation of the PLASSON MCP System proved to be a great success for the Eden NW2 development. By pursuing bespoke pre-fabrication, G&H were able to streamline installation, maximise the use of space, and maintain robust build quality throughout.
Each manifold arrived on-site ready to connect, minimising time spent on assembly, while the compact MCPs ensured riser cupboards remained neat and accessible. Importantly, all products supplied were fully compliant with the UK Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations 1999 and met Thames Water guidelines, ensuring readiness for water meter installation.
